Peanut Butter ees de Debil
I ate this morning 2 corn tortillas (I can't eat bread-Celiac Disease, IBS) with 2 tbsp each of Peanut Butter. Now, I've always loved Peanut Butter. When I was younger I used to just walk around the house with the jar and a spoon.
I've also always had really bad allergies. I remember when I first was diagnosed, (after that god-awful "scratch test" on my back that they do where they scratch the skin a bit with a dull instrument and then with a dropper, drop well-known allergens into the open, fresh skin. Agony.) Peanut Butter was on the list. Since I loved eating it so much, I asked my doc if I had to quit eating it completely. This is what he said, "No. As long as you don't eat a whole jar of it you shouldn't have a problem." He also said I would "grow out" of my allergies, but as I've gotten older, they've gotten a lot worse. So much so, that there are only a few food groups that I can choose foods from.
Last night, almost immediately after I finished eating my corn tortilla peanut butter "sandwiches", I started coughing. I couldn't stop for a long time and the more I coughed the more I had trouble breathing. Because of my allergies, in the springtime I have allergy-induced asthma. That's exactly what it felt like.
Today, I feel like warmed-over-shit-on-a-stick. I don't know if I'm still having an allergic reaction to the Peanut Butter or if I'm coming down with something. This morning, when I got up, even before I got out of bed I felt nauseous. When I stood up, it got worse. My blood sugar was low too. I was shaking pretty badly. I went straight back to bed. Slept for a few more hours and got up again. I wasn't so nauseous then, but my blood sugar was worse. Lower. I've felt icky all day. Flushed. Feverish. On and off nausea. Sweating. Chills.
