~Untitled-29th March 2006~

You'll rescue me.
Right?
From the shadows of myself I creep around in.
You'll tell me.
Right?
How to be like you?
Healthy
Functional
You'll speak to me.
Right?
So these noisy insane voices will disappear?
In the name of Honesty
I am an open book
Laid bare before you
with emotions raw and tender to the touch.
You won't leave me.
Right?
When you find out how crazy I am?
You'll stay with me.
Right?
When I try to push you away?

I love this. I love the way the first couple of lines teeter off center to lead you in-and thent the repetition of 'right?'. As a piece it really communicates the uncertainty and vulnerability that can sometimes dominate the beginning of a relationship-and sometimes just dominate. Would be wonderful to read to an audiance-but also quite brave I suppose. Glad you found it.

The "Right? Right?" makes me think of someone in trouble emotionally or mentally. Someone who needs to be rescued.

I've been "in trouble" emotionally/mentally all of my life.

I wrote this more as a prayer. I was uncertain of God's love for me at the time. And I was uncertain of my love for him.

We all need to be rescued sometimes, don't you think?
